Year 2022, DECEMBER

Hello, Dear Monthly News readers,

In December we participated in various highly impressive activities. It is a shame that in this post we cannot mention every detail of what we did, but we will describe some of the most attractive activities we have enjoyed.

On December 9th our school organised a PieDay. All classes baked and sold delicious cookies, cakes, pies and other sweets. The money collected went to the charity fund to to help our teachers who at present are suffering from health issues.

We are proud to mention that we have raised around 800€! Suffice it to say it was a great day, we not only tasted delicious cakes but also helped our teachers to recover from ilnesses.

Traditionally, the high school community was invited to share kindness before the happy holidays of the year. Classes and separate community members prepared gift bags to cheer up lonely, struggling citizens, who get food at the parish charity canteen. Our students went to the parish cafeteria, where V. Gražulevičius, Rector of the Cathedral of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and manager of the Charity Canteen Edita were already waiting.

We hope that by donating food bags, we have given them the hope and confidence they need most. After all, it was the time of year that reminds us that we exist not only for ourselves, but for others as well. Let us live and hope!

We really feel a lot of kindness and we know how to share it! Great school, amazing teachers and their support. On December the20th we had the traditional sports project „Fashion Show”. Our students formed 5 teams and one team consisting of their parents. There were no limits to the ingenuity of the teams. We cheered „XXL”, „1000 years before our era”, „Ancient Greece”, „Future”, „Balenciaga”, „Palanga Basanke” teams.

The event started with the introduction of the teams, after which the teams competed in six intriguing events that required agility, ingenuity and creativity. The participants and their performances were evaluated by a competent commission – the director of Vilkaviškis Culture Center Renata Medelienė, Vilkaviškis district municipality senior specialist Žydrė Žilinskienė, parents’ representative Andrius Grygelaitis, Lithuanian language and theater teacher Jolita Sinkevičienė and geography teacher Vilma Rekašienė. All teams were awarded with sweet prizes, and I-III place winners received Christmas cups.

It was a great thrill for the first graders because we had never done anything like this before. Thus, we can confidently say that the event was truly AMAZING!

The last month of the year was as not boring as it could have been because we had quite a few integrated lessons such as „Traditional Lithuanian dishes and their origin’, „Making decisions“, „Christmas time: places to see in Lithuania” and many more.

To put it briefly, our school year has been filled with amazing activities and excitement!

Let’s hope 2023 will be also full of both fun and productive learning!
